Stop 5: Water Tower

From the previous stop: Walk up Links Lane and the Water Tower was probably located on the left near Number 73 Links Lane.

The Water Tower is clearly visible behind the Golf Club
  • The tower was built in 1899 by the owner of Idsworth House to supply water to his Estate, including Rowlands Castle.
  • The water pumped into the water tower was derived from Bedhampton springs.
  • The provision of water supplies was taken over by Portsmouth Water in 1929 and that marked the end of the life of this water tower.
