The early 20th century saw the establishment of various social clubs and societies in Rowlands Castle, catering for diverse interests, from literature and arts to sports and hobbies. Local newspapers reported regularly on whist drives, smoking concerts and cricket matches. The Golf club was established in 1902 and other groups continue successfully decades after their inauguration.
