Havant Thicket

The Forestry Commission owns an area of forest known as ‘Havant Thicket’ which lies to the west of the Petersfield Road. Most of this land is now included within the Staunton Country Park adjacent to the proposed Portsmouth Water Company reservoir.

The Commission also leases a large area of forest to the west of the Petersfield Road which includes the remains of Motleys Copse motte and bailey castle and other historic features. It is also crossed by the haul road to the Rowlands Castle oilfield which lies to the east of the woodland. Visit the Forestry Commission website to read more about Havant Thicket.
